Hi! Welcome to our weight loss pages! My husband Jonathan and I (Pam) started this WOE (lo-carbing) on Nov. 9, 2000. We are convinced this is the only way to go! A little about uswe live in the small sleepy town of Sedro Woolley, WA a one mile drive from the big city of Seattle. We are originally from Klamath Falls, OR where my husband is a member of the Klamath Indian Tribe. Both of us were born and raised there. We met in our twenties, got married and had three children (a daughter and two sons). In 1981, when our youngest was two, we moved to Sedro Woolley. So here we are, twenty years later! The kids are all grown up and pretty much on their own, but they live close by which is nice. My husband works for the City of Seattle Transportation Department as a truck driver and Im the Executive Director of our countys domestic violence and sexual assault services program. We are looking forward to retirementif that day ever comes! Although my mom says I was a skinny, sickly baby, I started gaining weight at about age seven when my tonsils and adenoids were removed. I have been overweight all of my adult life. When I got married, I already weighed over 250 pounds. Here I am today, 5 2 and 338 pounds! I figure my highest weight ever was around 350. Diets? Ive tried them all. Some worked for a short time but eventually Id tire of the restricted eating. I lost 125 pounds at age 33 by eating just vegetables (mostly frozen). Took ten months to lose the weight and only about 4 months to put it all back on (and then some!) This diet has been the easiest way of eating (WOE) I have ever tried. For some reason Im never starved. However, Ive learned that I have to make adjustments in what and how much I eat taking into consideration my slow metabolism and increasing age (53). But hey, I figure this is a way of life (WOL) I can stick to! My husband is 59 and now weighs 225 pounds. So far, he has lost 33 pounds! By changing to this WOE, he has also been able to stop taking insulin injections for his diabetes. Let me tell you, hes sold on this WOL. We were fortunate to have a doctor that had the foresight and fortitude to recommend this WOE to us. As for the Atkins Friends Boards and the Century ClubWOW! The greatest bunch of people youd ever wanna meet! You cant beat the support, tips, chuckles and inspiring words you find there. Its made all the difference in the world to mesupport from people who really understand because theyve been there or are there! We can do it together.
